Mechanical metallurgy is the branch of science that studies how metals behave and respond to applied forces. It will signify different things to different people because it is not a perfectly defined territory. To some, it will imply mechanical qualities of metals or mechanical testing; to others, it will imply plastic working and shaping of metals; and to still others, it will imply the more theoretical parts of the science, which intersect with metal physics and physical metallurgy. Another group may believe that mechanical metallurgy and applied mathematics and mechanics are inextricably linked. Mechanical metallurgy is not a topic that can be easily separated and studied on its own. In the book "Mechanical Metallurgy", there are clear explanations of all the major concepts that encompass the field of mechanical metallurgy. It covers all the complex metalworking processes that one requires to know in the field of metallurgy. It deals with strain relationships for elastic behavior, theory of plasticity, plastic deformation of single crystals conduction, dislocation theory and forging. It strives to provide a fair idea about this discipline and to help develop a better understanding of the latest advances within this field. This book elucidates new techniques and their applications in a multidisciplinary approach. It presents researches and studies performed by experts across the globe. This book is a compilation of chapters that discuss the most vital concepts and emerging trends in this field. It is appropriate for students seeking detailed information in this area as well as for experts.
