Metrology provides the quality assurance behind modern-day manufacturing processes. It is the science that enables production lines to produce thousands of identical pieces of sophisticated equipment. Without the standardised parts that metrology enables the creation of we would not have mass production, and the world would be a very different place. The primary purpose of tolerances is to permit variation in dimensions without degradation of the performance beyond the limits established by the specification of the design. Quality improvement can be an arduous journey for organizations, as they are up against various constraints that include customer/stakeholder expectations and interests, some of which could be inherently conflicting. The book “Metrology, Tolerance Technology and Quality Control” explores the study of measurement, which is a vital component in many fields, including manufacturing, engineering, science and technology. It deals with engineering metrology, tolerances, gauges and linear measurement. It also explores principle of interferometer, measurement of screw threads, statistical quality control and reliability. The various sub-fields of metrology along with technological progress that have future implications are glanced in this book. Different approaches, evaluations and methodologies and advanced studies have been included in it. This book is meant for students who are looking for a detailed explanation of the technologies related to metrology and quality control.
