Materials science and engineering drives innovation in both research and industry in everything from aerospace to medicine. It combines engineering, physics, and chemistry principles to solve real-world problems associated with nanotechnology, biotechnology, information technology, energy, manufacturing, and other major engineering disciplines. Materials engineering shows us how to apply knowledge to make better things. MSE is the field that leads in the discovery and development of the stuff that makes everything work. Important elements of modern materials science were products of the Space Race; the understanding and engineering of the metallic alloys, and silica and carbon materials, used in building space vehicles enabling the exploration of space. Materials science has driven and been driven by, the development of revolutionary technologies such as rubbers, plastics, semiconductors, and biomaterials.

This book is a valuable compilation of topics, ranging from the basic to the most complex theories and principles in the field of materials science and engineering. It is designed in such a way, that it will provide deep insights about the new theories and concepts related to the subject to the readers. It highlights mechanical properties of the material, mechanical testing of materials, ferrous and non-ferrous metals. It also deals with electrical properties, semiconductors, magnetic properties, casting of metals, and composite materials. This book picks up individual concepts and theories and explains their need and contribution in the context of the growth of this field. This book is meant for students who are looking for an elaborate reference on materials science and engineering.
