Materials are changing at a greater rate than they have ever been before. The development of new and improved materials is regarded as an "underpinning technology" by industrialised nations, as it can stimulate innovation in all branches of engineering, allowing for new designs for structures, appliances, engines, electrical and electronic devices, processing, and energy conservation equipment, and much more. An engineering material's principal role is to endure applied loads without breaking or exhibiting excessive deflection. Metals, polymers, ceramics, and composites are the four major categories of engineering materials. The engineering function can affect industries such as electronics, communications, transportation, manufacturing, medicine, recreation, environment, and energy, and the materials qualities of interest can be electrical, mechanical, optical, or magnetic.

The fundamental properties of engineering materials, how they are regulated by processing, shaped, connected, and finished, and how all of these aspects influence the selection and design of materials in real-world engineering applications are all covered in length in this book. It focuses on various topics like mechanical properties, physical properties, polymer processing, and metal casting processes. It also deals with sheet-metal forming, stamping, and metal shaping processes. It is compiled in such a manner, that it will provide in-depth knowledge about the theory and practice of the subject. Different approaches, evaluations, and methodologies on the subject have been included in this book. For all those who are interested in this topic, this book can prove to be an essential guide.
