Every organisation, whether or not it is labelled 'operations,' has an operations function. The majority of organisations' objective or purpose is to produce commodities and/or services. They must acquire resources, transform them to outputs, and distribute them to their designated customers in order to do this. The word "operations" refers to all of the actions necessary for an organisation to develop and distribute its products or services to its consumers or clients. Within big and complex organisations, operations are often a significant functional area, with individuals allocated to manage all or a portion of the organization's operations procedures. It is a critical functional area since it directly affects how successfully an organisation fulfils its clients. The operations function's purpose is often described in terms of profit, growth, and competitiveness in private-sector corporations; in public and volunteer organisations, it is frequently defined in terms of giving value for money. This book elucidates the concepts and innovative models around prospective developments with respect to operations management. It aims to shed light on some of the unexplored aspects of this field. It is a compilation of chapters that discuss the most vital concepts in this field. It explores process selection, capacity planning and service design. It also deals with quality assurance, supply chain management, work system design, inventory management and control. Coherent flow of topics, student-friendly language and extensive use of examples make this book an invaluable source of knowledge. Those in search of information to further their knowledge will be greatly assisted by this book.
