Industrial Engineering is the science that studies the most efficient methods for people and equipment to work together to accomplish a task, whether that task be manufacturing, building, mining, agriculture, or banking. In Industrial engineering specific knowledge and skills from the mathematical, physical, and social sciences, as well as engineering analysis and design concepts and techniques are used, to describe, predict, and assess the outcomes of systems and processes. The book “Industrial Engineering and Production Management" is completely up to date with new and evolving concepts like reconfigurable manufacturing, green manufacturing and remanufacturing to acquaint the reader with new and advanced trends in manufacturing with a strong focus on sustainable manufacturing. It focuses on product design and development, work system design, facility design and method study. It also explores ergonomics, production and operation management and supply chain management. The various subfields of the subject along with technological progress that have future implications are glanced at in this book. Coherent flow of topics, student-friendly language and extensive use of examples make this book an invaluable source of knowledge. It is self-instructed for all the students and readers for their interest in their respective field.
