All machining processes involve the formation of chips; this occurs by deforming the work material on the surface of job with the help of a cutting tool. Depending upon the tool geometry, cutting conditions and work material, chips are produced in different shapes and sizes. The type of chip formed provides information about the deformation suffered by the work material and the surface quality produced during cutting. The book “Art of Cutting Metals” represents all the researches upon the art of cutting metals which have been mainly undertaken by scientific curiosity. When it comes to metal cutting, there are lot more options available than you might expect. Technology has come on leaps and bounds in the last few decades, enabling all different kinds of metal to be cut more smoothly, quickly and efficiently than ever before. The book aims to shed light on some of the unexplored aspects of metal cutting. It provides thorough insights about the uses and methods relevant in this field of study. It deals with metal cutting operations, heat in metal cutting, cutting tools materials, machinability and modeling of metal cutting. Such selected concepts redefine the subject that has been presented in this book. It unfolds the innovative aspects of this field which will be crucial for the holistic understanding of the subject matter. The book is appropriate for those seeking detailed information in this area.
