Maintenance engineering is the application of engineering ideas and methods to the planning and implementation of routine equipment and machinery maintenance. To achieve and maintain the highest levels of reliability and profit, which is done in conjunction with optimising operating procedures and budgets. As a result, several types of maintenance activities, such as preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance, can be planned to achieve the maintenance goal. More than any other management discipline, the notion, and scope of maintenance has changed dramatically over the last many decades, beginning with the pre-world war II period. These changes are primarily due to the introduction of increasingly complicated system designs that necessitate new maintenance procedures. These shifts are putting attitudes and talents in every industry area to the test.

This book clarifies the concepts and new models around future developments in the field of Maintenance. It elucidates the various theories and techniques of this field. The chapters in this book cover a wide spectrum of disciplines such as maintenance systems, management control, maintenance budgeting, and maintenance plan. A logical-based discussion has been tried to make for better understanding of the subject matter. It also explores work control, management of plant turnarounds, spare parts management, and maintenance documentation system. It unfolds the innovative aspects of this area, which will be crucial for the holistic understanding of the subject matter. The book is appropriate for those seeking detailed information in this field and will serve as a reference to a broad spectrum of readers.
