This book “Engineering Design: Materials and Processing Approach” is introducing a new engineering product design or changing an existing model that involves developing designs, reaching economic decisions, selecting materials, choosing manufacturing processes, and assessing environmental impact. These activities are interdependent and should not be performed in isolation from each other. This is all because the materials and processes used in making a product that can have a major influence on its design, cost, and performance in service. This engineering design book covers so many factors influencing the design process, including technical, social, and economic considerations. It includes material on computer aided design and new problems and exercises throughout.  This book presents the design process in broad context - showing how design relates to manufacturing or processing. The importance of linking and manufacturing at an early stage is reinforced throughout. This book has been reorganized so that the book starts directly with a consideration of the design process, and then goes on to show how design fits into society, the engineering organization, and technology innovation process. This title is aimed at students in mechanical, manufacturing, and materials engineering, as well as professionals in these fields, provides the practical know-how in order to choose the right materials and processes for development of new or enhanced products.
