Manufacturing businesses have faced various new obstacles in the previous few decades. Companies may now get parts from all around the world because to advancements in technology and improvements in goods transportation. More manufacturers have also entered the market as a result of this. There is a lot of competition in the corporate world. Product design and manufacturing has become an appealing area due to innovation, better management, increased throughput, and the introduction of new technology. To meet client expectations, the product development process must be methodical and effective from concept generation to final product manufacture, while also taking into account the time-to-market restriction. Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA, DFM/A, or DFM/DFA) processes that are properly designed and implemented enable organisations to develop high-quality products in less time and at lower prices. More sales and customer loyalty are frequently associated with higher quality at a lower cost.

This book provides comprehensive insights into the field of product design for manufacturing and assembly. It attempts to understand the multiple branches that fall under this discipline and explains how such concepts have practical applications. The chapters in this book cover a wide spectrum of scientific disciplines such as product design for manual assembly, wire harness assembly, printed circuit board design, and design for injection moulding. A logical-based discussion has been tried to make for better understanding of the subject matter. It also deals with design for sheet metalworking, design for die casting, design for powder metal processing, design for sand casting, and design for hot forging. While understanding the long-term perspectives of the topics, the book makes an effort in highlighting their impact as a modern tool for the growth of the discipline. Through this book, we attempt to further enlighten the readers about the new concepts in this field.
