Non-traditional machining processes no longer remain as laboratory processes and already in use in most of modern manufacturing industries. Non-traditional manufacturing processes are defined as a group of processes that remove excess material using a variety of techniques involving mechanical, thermal, electrical, or chemical energy, or combinations of these energies, but do not require the use of sharp cutting tools as in traditional manufacturing processes. Traditional machining operations such as turning, drilling, shaping, and milling are difficult to use on extremely hard and brittle materials. With applications to the automotive, aircraft and mould and die industries, the book “Non-Traditional Machining Processes” explores different aspects and processes through dedicated chapters. This book presents a comprehensive treatment of the process and equipment of non-traditional machining processes. Each non-traditional machining process is explained in a simple way covering process, equipment, process parameters, process capabilities, advantages, applications and limitations. The parameters kept in mind while writing the book are coverage of contents to suit syllabi of various universities, prerequisite knowledge of the user of this book, lucidity of writing, clarity of thoughts. Students and researchers will find the practical examples and new processes useful for both reference and for developing further processes. Industry professionals and materials engineers will also find non-traditional machining processes to be a source of ideas and processes for development and industrial application.
